Andrea's Book Picks
Six months ago I did not know what the term "indie author" meant. Today I call myself an indie author. For those of you who do not know, (like me such a short time ago), and indie author is someone who self-publishes or uses a small local publishing firm (indie=independent). I have read several good books by indie authors in the last couple of years, since they are readily available. I know sometimes people think that indie authors are not professional -this is not true. Indie authors may (or may not) lack professional writing experience, they may have great experience, but have not yet ben "discovered." I think it is important to give indie authors a chance, because they may have a great story to be told. Besides giving indie authors a chance, here are three more reasons I would like to encourage you to read books written by indie authors:
So, why not make your next read one by an indie author? I have some links to some great books below to help you get started. Just click on the picture to purchase the book.
- The purchase cost is typically lower than books published by well known publishers. You can read a greater volume of indie author books than you can from famous authors if you are on a reading budget.
- There is a greater variety of books available. Books that are mass produced are aimed at the general public -what is popular at the time. There is nothing wrong with popular, but some really great books may get left out because they do not fit in.
- The actual author earns more of the purchase price.
