I sit here writing at my patio table under a big shade umbrella, the hot sun caressing my back, and I think ahhh, it is summer! Ok, technically it is not summer. There are 20 more days until it is officially summer and 8 more school days until we are on summer break. But still, as I sip my avocado smoothie (made by Camryn) and watch my kids splash in the pool, I cannot help but get into summer mode. These are the days I live for. I work really hard 10 months out of the year, putting in 8-15 hour days 4-7 days a week. I would like to say I don't complain, but I do. But then, soon enough come these awesome days of warm lazy perfection and I think it is all worth it. But, before I truly relax this summer I have one more task to complete (ok, eight more days of work and one task) -I have to publish my book.
I am so close to finishing I can taste it! All I have left to do is finish taking out my footnotes and inserting them into the actual text. I thought foot notes would provide the reader with the additional information they are sure to want without interrupting the flow of my story, so this is what I did throughout my book. Then I started reformatting for publishing and I found out that you cannot use footnotes on ebooks. Changing the footnotes are really not a difficult task, but it is definitely a tedious one. At least when I write my next book I will know how to format when I start and save myself a lot of time at the end of the process.
Speaking of my next book, I am itching to start it. I constantly have titles, chapters, and dialogues floating in my head -interrupting my daily life. I should start writing those ideas, but I promised myself I would finish my first book before starting. So, I guess I should get back to reformatting. At least I can do it in the warm sunshine, because it is summer!
